Senior RB Jamal Scott wasn’t a starter last Friday night vs. the Riverside Poly Bears, but he made the most of his carries as the Mustangs trampled Poly 49-20, in a showdown of first place Inland Valley League teams. Scott, coming off a high ankle sprain that sidelined him for 2 games, rushed for 366 yards and 3 touchdowns for Rancho Verde (6-2, 3-0). Junior QB E.J. Stewart sparked the Mustang offense get going as well, passing for 322 yards and 3 touchdowns.
This week, Rancho Verde hosts the JW North Huskies for Homecoming on Friday, October 30 at 7:00pm. The Huskies are tied for 2nd place in the IVL with Poly at 2-1 and are looking to lock up a playoff berth. The Mustangs can clinch at least a share of the Inland Valley League title with a win.
