The Mustang varsity football team finally found some rhythm on offense Friday night, after falling behind 10-0 in the 1st quarter to the Murrieta Mesa Rams. Playing their second road game in as many weeks, Rancho Verde came to life behind a relentless running attack, which showcased senior Jamal Scott. Scott carried the ball 24 times for 328 yards and 5 touchdowns to lead Rancho Verde to a 49-26 win, and even their record on the year at 1-1.
Rancho Verde QB E.J. Stewart was 17-27 for 178 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, while Bryan Thompson led the Mustangs on the receiving end, with 83 yards on 8 catches and one score. This Friday (9/11) is the home opener for the Mustangs, as they host Great Oak HS at 7pm on game that will be live streamed by Fox Sports.
